    • Château Suduiraut, classed as a Premier Cru in 1855, is made from grapes selected from the finest terroirs of the property.
This wine is hand crafted at every stage of its elaboration and reveals remarkable finesse and complexity and a golden colour reminiscent of the sun that made it possible. With age the bright gold evolves to a dark amber colour. With an extensive life-span, it powerfully and harmoniously combines fruit and floral aromas with roasted and candied notes.

    • Vintage conditions

2011 was a year of contrasts. The mild, dry winter and spring led to very early growth of the vines. The summer in which cool, damp periods alternated with some very hot weeks mitigated this advance. Luckily a very fine month of September nonetheless enabled the grapes to ripen well.

    • Harvest

The harvest of our Sauternes wines took place between 1st and 27th October with a total of 3 selective pickings, in favourable weather. The second picking started on 8th October, during which the majority of the botrytised grapes, of excellent quality, were harvested.
Botrytis was present early on and we were able to start the harvest a month earlier than usual. They began September 12, to finish on October 5 with a total of 3 tries.

    • Blend

      Sémillon 93%, Sauvignon blanc 7%

    • Ageing

      45% in new barrels,
55% from barrels of one vintage, for 20 months.

    • Tasting note

With an intense golden yellow colour, Château Suduiraut 2011 presents a very fresh nose evoking citrus such as orange and lemon, and ripe fruit like yellow peach, enhanced with aniseed and a hint of minerality.
The palate reflects the year's character with a creaminess that is always tempered by great freshness. It offers richness, yet without ostentation; candied fruit, such as lemon, are still apparent, followed by very ripe apricot and vanilla.
The finish is rich and long with notes of candied citrus, and extremely fresh - a hallmark of the vintage. Château Suduiraut 2011 is a complex wine, and very supple despite its concentration.
